Of Time and Memory by Wes Stalcup and Carol Stalcup
April 7 - April 30, 2017
Reception: April 7, 2017; 6 - 9pm
With photographs and paintings, siblings Wes Stalcup and Carol Stalcup explore images at the intersection of time and memory. The artists reflect on the fragmentation, fluidity and distortions that occur as Time weaves Memory into narrative. Certain images capture a particular moment in time and space---or the memory of a particular moment—with a nod to the ephemeral and associative nature of both perception and reality. Air, wind and water wear mountains down to rivers and deserts, reminders that the most solid volumes of nature are fluid. Stars are born and die in the vast reaches of space, the endless macrocosmic cycle of birth, life and death.
